Restaura’s new research featured in Foodservice Director, offers a fresh and surprisingly personal take on why so many baby boomers are choosing to age in place. It turns out, it’s not just about staying in a familiar home or avoiding institutional care. For many, it’s about something much simpler, the food.

The Great Expectations survey, conducted by Age of Majority for Restaura, a new senior dining company founded by longtime foodservice leaders Richard Schenkel and Joe Cuticelli, found that boomers see food as more than just fuel. It’s tied to how they see themselves… independent, vibrant, and far from “old.” For this generation, staying in control of what they eat is a way of holding on to that identity.

Schenkel and Cuticelli are tapping into these insights as they build Restaura, focusing on great food and smart technology to reimagine what dining in senior living can look like, and making it something people can actually get excited about.
