Fork in the Road: The Caregiving Conundrum
In our continuing commitment to understand evolving market dynamics, Restaura commissioned a national survey of more than 1,200 U.S. adults ages 45+ to explore adult children’s perspectives and expectations on caregiving, senior living, and the role of food in health and well-being. Their insights reveal forks in the road that nearly every family will likely face.
The findings reveal that:
- Senior Living is the Preference: 7 in 10 adult children would choose a senior living community for their parents if cost were not a factor.
- Nutrition is the Priority: Food and nutrition ranked as the 1 factor affecting their parents’ health and well being, above social connection or medical care.
- Expectations Outpace Experience: Among those with parents in senior living, dining satisfaction ranked lowest, behind safety, social engagement, and staff support.
